About INDIA FRAMES & LAMINATIONS – Industrial Plant & Machines in Chennai
We have been sitting here at No.33 on Ellis Road for a good while now. If you know Mount Road, you know how busy it gets around here with the traffic and people always rushing. Our shop, India Frames & Laminations, is basically full of wood scraps and bits of glass most of the time. It is not the cleanest place, but that is how a framing shop looks when people are actually working. I spend a lot of my morning just cutting frames to the right size and making sure the corners match up, which is harder than it looks if the wood is a bit warped. We do a lot of lamination too. That machine stays on for most of the afternoon and it gets pretty warm in here. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the step and wait for it to come back. People bring in all sorts of things, like old photos that are falling apart or diplomas they want to keep safe. We just take them, do the work, and put them on the shelf until they come back to pick them up. It’s a lot of manual work and my hands usually have some glue or dust on them by five o'clock. The neighbors are alright, and we all know each other’s business. It’s just a normal day of measuring things and trying not to break any glass. We don't have fancy chairs or a big waiting area, just the workbench and the tools we need.
