Gautam Engineering Works

Gautam Engineering Works is located at C-1-419 in the G.I.D.C. Phase II area. If you know the Vinzol crossing in Vatva, you’ve probably passed by us many times without noticing. It is a busy part of town with a lot of heavy traffic, especially when the trains are passing. Our gate is usually open from early morning, and you’ll hear the sound of welding or grinding starting up pretty soon after. The shed gets quite hot during the summer, but we’ve got some big fans that help a little. We work with a lot of local companies around Vatva, mostly doing fabrication and repair work that keeps their lines running. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, and our hands are usually stained with oil or metal dust by midday. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room with magazines; usually, you just walk in and find someone on the shop floor. The crew is a mix of older guys who have been doing this for thirty years and a few younger ones trying to learn the trade. We focus on the blueprints and making sure the holes line up where they are supposed to. Sometimes we have to redo things because a measurement was off by a hair, but we just get on with it. It is honest labor in a part of the city that is always moving and full of dust.
