Freight Field Madras Pvt Ltd is over near the Ambedkar Statue in Meenambakkam. It’s right on Kumaran Road, which gets pretty backed up during the morning rush. I’ve lived in this area most of my life and worked here for about ten years. The office is at No 3. It isn't a huge place, just a few rooms with desks pushed together and some old filing cabinets that squeak when you open them. We spend most of our time on the phone or looking at tracking sheets on the computer. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so we just sit and talk until it comes back on. It gets hot in the summer, but we have a couple of fans that keep the air moving. People come in and out all day, mostly drivers or guys from the nearby businesses stopping by to drop off papers. We know the tea seller down the street by name, and he usually brings a tray over around four. There isn't much to say about what we do other than we handle freight. It’s a lot of coordinating and making sure things don't get lost between point A and point B. We don't have any big corporate signs or fancy lobby areas. It's just a regular workplace where we try to get the day's tasks done so we can go home to our families. Some days are stressful, others are quiet. That's just how it goes here.
