We are located at 50 Raja Muthiah Road in the Periamet area. If you know this part of town, you know it’s famous for leather. Forward Shoes (India) has been here for quite some time now. Our building is pretty plain, just like the work we do. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy lobby. Instead, we have shelves full of leather hides and lasts for making shoes. The smell of glue and leather is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It’s a smell we’ve grown to like. We spend our hours cutting, stitching, and finishing shoes. It’s a slow process if you want to do it right, and we don't like to rush things. We have a small team, and everyone knows their job. Some of us have been working with leather since we were teenagers. We don't really have a big marketing plan. Most people who know us just come to the door on Raja Muthiah Road. The traffic outside is usually pretty bad, but inside we just focus on the shoes. We don't use a lot of complicated words to describe what we do. We just make footwear that lasts. It’s a dusty job and our hands are rarely clean at the end of the day. But there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing a finished pair of shoes ready to go out. That’s really all there is to it. We just keep making shoes one pair at a time.
