First Computers

Up on the 2nd floor of the Ceebros Centre, right on Montieth Road in Egmore, you’ll find our shop. It’s a bit of a climb, but we’ve been here long enough that most people know the way. The office is usually filled with the hum of old fans and the steady clicking of keyboards. We’ve got stacks of monitors in the corner and boxes of cables that we really should organize better one of these days. It gets pretty busy around here, especially with all the foot traffic in Egmore, and sometimes the air conditioning struggles to keep up with the Chennai heat. Most of our day is spent looking at screens or opening up computer towers to see why they stopped working. It’s not glamorous work. Sometimes we’re just sitting around waiting for a slow update to finish so we can move on to the next task. We’ve seen a lot of different gadgets come and go since we opened up this spot. The desks are a bit cluttered with screwdrivers and half-eaten lunches, but that’s just how we work. We don’t really bother with fancy decorations or anything like that. We just focus on the machines in front of us. If you drop by, someone will probably be hunched over a motherboard, but they’ll look up and help you out once they hit a stopping point. It’s just a regular place where we deal with tech all day long and try to keep things running.
