Our office is on Gandhi Street in Chennai, which is a pretty lively spot to be. You can hear the city noises all day long, from the honking cars to the street vendors shouting out what they have for sale. We are located at number three, and it is a place that feels very much like a part of the neighborhood. Inside, we have our desks set up for engineering work. It gets a bit warm in the afternoons, but we have some good fans that keep the air moving. We mostly spend our time looking at technical specs and talking through problems that come up on various jobs. It is a very hands-on kind of environment. We don't have a lot of fancy furniture; it is more about having enough shelf space for all the manuals and folders we have collected over the years. The staff here is a mix of people who have been around forever and some newer faces, but we all just get along and do what needs doing. We usually take turns getting snacks from the shop down the road. It isn't a corporate showroom; it is a working office where people wear comfortable clothes and focus on their tasks. We like the fact that we are right here in the middle of the city where everything is happening. It makes the day go by faster when there is so much life just outside the door.
