Ferrous Works

We’ve been here at No.-72 Ussman Road in T. Nagar for a while now. Most days it’s just the sound of metal hitting metal and the smell of welding around the shop. It gets pretty loud and dusty, but that is just how it goes when you’re dealing with iron all day long. The traffic outside on Ussman Road is always a mess, so we usually just stay inside and focus on whatever is on the workbench. It’s not a fancy setup at all. We have some old machines and a lot of scrap pieces piled up in the corners. People come by when they need something made or fixed that’s made of steel or iron. Sometimes they have a drawing on a piece of paper and other times they just explain it with their hands. We try to get the dimensions right and make sure the welds are solid enough to hold. It’s heavy work and our hands are usually stained black by the end of the shift. T. Nagar is a busy place but our little spot stays focused on the raw materials. We don’t really do much advertising because the work usually speaks for itself when someone sees a finished gate or a frame we built. It’s just us doing what we know how to do with the tools we have. Some days the heat is a bit much but we just keep the fans going and keep moving. We are just local workers doing our daily job.
