You have to head up to the third floor at No. 185 on Poonamallee High Road to find us. It’s one of those buildings in Kilpauk where the old number and the new number still confuse the mailman. Being on the third floor means we don’t get many random people walking in from the street, which is fine because diamonds need a bit of focus. The traffic on PH road is always a nightmare, so we usually hear the honking all day long from the window. Inside, it’s mostly quiet. We have these specialized lamps for looking at stones. My eyes get tired by five o'clock from all the squinting. We aren't a big flashy store with guards at the door and red carpets. It’s a workspace. There are loupes and tweezers scattered on the desks. We spend a lot of time talking to suppliers and checking how the stones look when they arrive. Sometimes a piece doesn't look right, so we send it back. It’s a lot of back and forth. We’ve been in this Kilpauk spot for a while now. The elevator in this building is a bit grumpy sometimes, so we end up taking the stairs. It’s just how it is. We do our work, drink our tea, and head home once the sun goes down. We just focus on the diamonds and keep the rest simple.
