Faizan Shoes Pvt. Ltd. has been at 26 Vepery High Road for quite some time. Periamet is known for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the neighbors. The building is a bit old and the stairs creak, but it serves us well enough. We have rooms filled with leather and the smell is very strong when you walk in. It’s a scent we have grown used to over the years. We spend our days cutting and stitching. It is dusty work. We aren't a massive factory, just a solid place where people know their trade. The street outside is always full of motorcycles and delivery vans. Vepery High Road stays busy from dawn until way past dark. We have a small crew and most of us have been here for years. We don't bother with fancy signs or a big lobby. The work happens in the back where the lights are bright. We just focus on making shoes that hold together. Sometimes the power goes out and we just wait it out. It is a very normal, everyday kind of business. We know the other shop owners on the block and we all just get on with our jobs. It’s how things have always been here in Periamet. The front door is heavy and doesn't shut right, but we know the trick to it. It’s home for us. We usually eat our lunch together in the small breakroom while talking about the cricket scores or the local news.
