Exceed Engineering

Starting out in Sidco Industrial Estate wasn't fancy. We just took a small spot and brought in the machines. Every morning we open up the shutters and get to it. Some days it's loud with the cutting and welding, but that's just how the shop is. People around here know where we are because we’ve been at this spot for a while now. It’s mostly metal shavings and grease on the floor by the end of the shift. We don’t have a front desk or anyone to answer phones in a suit. It’s usually one of us wiping our hands on a rag before picking up. We work on whatever comes through the door. Sometimes it’s big pieces for other factories nearby and other times it’s something small someone needs fixed right away. The tea stall down the lane is where we usually end up talking about the day’s jobs. It is dusty and the fans don’t always keep it cool in the summer heat, but the work gets finished. We don’t spend much time on paperwork unless we have to. Most of the guys here have been doing this since they were young. We learned by watching and doing, not from books. That’s just the way it goes at Sidco. If you walk past, you’ll hear the grinders going and see us hunched over the benches. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s where we do our thing every single day.
