Engineer

Our place is located at 163 M.T.H. Road in Villivakkam. If you know Chennai, you know how busy this road can get at almost any time of the day. The traffic outside is constant, and there's always the sound of horns and buses. Engineer is the name on our door, though it’s a bit faded now. We spend most of our time inside the office trying to stay cool while we look over plans and drawings. The humidity in Chennai doesn’t really let up, so the fan is always on. We have been in this part of Villivakkam for quite a few years. It’s a convenient spot because everything is nearby, even if the parking is a bit of a nightmare. Sometimes we walk down to get a quick snack from the vendors nearby. The walls inside are painted a plain white, and we have shelves full of folders that haven't been moved in years. It’s not a corporate office with glass walls or anything. It feels more like a workshop where we just get things done. We don't really bother with big speeches or marketing. Most of our day is just figuring out how to fix problems or design something that works. Being on M.T.H. Road means we are right in the middle of the action, which is fine by us. It’s just how things are here in this part of the city. We share the space with some old furniture and a lot of paperwork that seems to grow every week. It is a real place.
