We are located in the Koranadu area of Mayiladuthurai, right on Cauvery Nagar at No. 27-A. Even though the name says Chennai, this is where we do our day-to-day business. It’s a traditional kind of place. We have the usual jewelry cases and a few chairs for people to sit while they look at stuff. We get a lot of local families coming in, especially during the wedding season. It gets quite crowded then. My desk is tucked in the corner behind the main counter. I spend a lot of time on the phone or checking the daily gold rates. It’s not a high-tech operation. We still use a lot of paper notebooks to keep track of things. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to cross things out and start over. That’s just how we operate. The street outside isn't too wide, so parking can be a bit of a mess sometimes. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the people walking by. We aren't some big corporate chain with a manual for everything. We just talk to people like normal and show them what we’ve got in stock. It’s a practical business. We close up for lunch usually and then stay open until late evening. This is just a local shop where we try to keep things running smoothly every day.
