Cauvery Steel

You can find our shop at No: 81 on Kundrathur Road in Porur. It’s a busy neighborhood and we are right in the middle of it. We deal in steel, so our yard is usually full of rods, sheets, and various metal bits. It’s not a very quiet place to work with all the clanging of metal and the traffic passing by on the road outside. We spend our mornings checking what came in and what needs to go out to the local building sites. There’s no reception area or anything like that. You just walk in and we’ll be there working near the stacks of iron. We talk to people about their gate designs or whatever they are constructing. It’s a hands-on kind of business. We don’t use computers for everything; we still like writing things down in our books. The air in Porur can get quite humid, so moving steel around makes for a sweaty day. We are just a local bunch trying to keep the business moving. There are no corporate meetings here. We just discuss what needs to be done over a cup of tea and then get to it. Sometimes the yard gets a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. It’s a simple setup on Kundrathur Road, and we’ve been part of this community for quite some time now. We just focus on the work at hand.
