Caravel Shipping is located on the third floor of number 5, 3rd North Beach Road. Being so close to the water and the port area is pretty much necessary for what we do. Shipping is a lot of hard work and even more paperwork. Our office isn't anything special to look at—just a place where we track vessels and talk to captains and port authorities. The air around here often smells like the sea, and there’s always a breeze coming off the coast. We spend our days looking at schedules and trying to figure out why a container is stuck somewhere. It’s not a glamorous job, and the hours can be strange because ships don’t follow a nine-to-five clock. We have a small team here on the third floor, and we’re usually surrounded by stacks of manifests and shipping logs. We don't use a lot of corporate talk because there's no time for it when you're trying to coordinate transport. Everything has to be precise, or things get lost, and that’s a real mess to clean up. We’ve been at this for a while and have seen the shipping industry go through many ups and downs. We just keep our heads down and focus on getting the cargo where it needs to go. It’s a lot of phone calls and emails, but seeing a job finish properly is what keeps us coming back.
