Sembudoss Street is a busy place, and we’ve been here at number 54 for a long time now. Most people still remember the old address as number 61. Our office is up on the first floor, which keeps us slightly away from the direct noise of the street, though you can still hear the trucks and the carts moving metal all day long. It is a bit of a climb up those stairs, but we are used to it by now. Bhagwandas Metals Ltd. started out small. We handle various metal products and spend most of our mornings checking inventory and talking to folks who come in from the nearby markets. The street can get really crowded by noon, so we usually try to get the heavy loading done early. It is not a fancy setup. We have desks that have seen better days and stacks of ledgers. My father used to say that the location matters because everyone in the metal trade passes through here eventually. We know the neighbors, the tea stall guy around the corner, and the regulars who have been buying from us for decades. It is mostly about getting the work done and making sure the orders are ready when the transport arrives. Sometimes the power goes out or the rain makes the street a mess, but we just keep going. That is just how it is in this part of town. We don’t need anything flashier.
