Barakath Steels

If you head over to Washermenpet, you will find us at number 65 on Cemetery Road. It is a crowded street, and sometimes it is hard to even park a bike, let alone a big lorry. We run Barakath Steels from this spot and it has been our home for a long time. The shop is filled with all kinds of iron and steel rods. It is a bit of a maze inside because we try to fit as much stock as we can into the space we have. The air always has that metallic smell to it. We don't have a computer to tell us exactly where everything is, so we rely on our memory and a lot of scribbled notes on the walls. Most of our customers are from the neighborhood or small builders who need a few pieces of metal for a house project. We do the cutting ourselves and it can get quite noisy in the afternoons. Sometimes the neighbors complain, but then they come to us when they need a gate fixed or something. It is just a small local business with no big airs about it. We don't wear uniforms or have a fancy logo. We just open up the shutters every morning and see who comes by. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. We wouldn't know what else to do with our time anyway.
