Bachi Shoes

Bachi Shoes is tucked away at 15 Sami Mudali Street in the Periamet area of Tamil Nadu. If you walk down the street, you’ll see many shops like ours, but we’ve been at this number for a good while. The building is old and the stairs are a bit narrow, so carrying boxes up and down can be a real chore. We mostly deal with footwear, so the place is always cluttered with shoe boxes stacked right up to the rafters. It is hard to keep everything neat when new shipments arrive every other day. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights. Instead, it is more like a working warehouse where things are moving all the time. The floors are concrete and have some cracks from years of heavy boxes being dragged across them. We don't mind it much. The staff here is small, just a few of us who have known each other for years. We spend the day checking sizes and matching pairs before they go out. Sometimes we sit on the stools outside the door to catch a bit of a breeze if there is one. The neighbors are mostly doing the same kind of work, so we all know each other. It is a busy, dusty part of town but it feels like home to us. We just keep our heads down and get the shoes out to the people who ordered them.
