Aruna Hardware

Aruna Hardware is tucked away at No:5 on Thangal Earikarai Main Road in Virugambakkam. It’s a typical local hardware shop. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, filled with everything from nails and screws to pipes and paint. If you live in this part of Virugambakkam, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times. We started this shop because we saw how much the neighborhood was growing and people always need things for their homes. It’s a bit of a maze inside, but I know exactly where every single item is kept. Some days it’s just people coming in for a single washer or a bulb, and other days it’s a contractor buying supplies for a whole house. We don’t have a fancy computer system to track everything; we mostly just know what’s in stock by looking. The main road can get busy, so we see a lot of foot traffic. We aren't a big chain store, just a family-run place where we treat everyone like a neighbor. Sometimes we spend more time talking to customers about their home repairs than actually selling them stuff. That is just how it goes here. We open early so workers can grab what they need before starting their day. It’s a simple business, but it keeps us busy and we like being part of the community.
