We’re set up in Periamet on E.V.R. Road, which most people still call P.H. Road. It’s a busy part of the city near the station, so there is always movement outside our door. We deal with gold here. It’s not like a shopping mall experience where everything is shiny and perfect. It’s a working office and trade spot. We have a few desks, some heavy safes, and a lot of ledgers. The air conditioning struggles a bit in May, but we get through it. People come in and out all day for business. We don't really do the whole fancy sales pitch thing. We just tell people the price and show them the weight. It’s straightforward. Most of us have been working in this area for years, so we know the other shopkeepers around Periamet. The tea stalls nearby are where we usually end up for breaks. It’s a noisy, crowded, but honest way to make a living. We don't have a big mission statement. We just open up at the usual time, handle the gold, make sure the math is right, and lock up. Sometimes the paperwork piles up on my desk until I can't see the wood anymore. That’s just part of the job. It’s a real place with real people working hard. There is no polish here, just the daily grind of the gold trade.
