Our office is down on the ground floor of Kattur Sadayappan Street. If you know where the Tmag Office is in Periamet, we are right across from there. It’s one of those old parts of Chennai where everything feels a bit crowded but familiar. We spend most of our time dealing with land and building projects. It’s mostly about coordinating between different people and making sure the sites are actually getting worked on. Some days are just spent on the phone or filling out forms for the local authorities. The room is usually a bit cluttered with files and old site photos. We’ve got a few desks pushed together and a water cooler that makes a weird noise sometimes. It’s not a corporate skyscraper or anything, just a regular workplace where we try to get things done. Most of us have lived in Chennai our whole lives, so we know the local areas pretty well. When people come in, we usually just sit around the main table and talk through the plans. There’s no big reception desk or fancy lights. We just focus on the infrastructure side of things and trying to help people get their projects off the ground. It’s hard work, especially with the heat outside, but we like being in Periamet. The tea shop around the corner is where we usually end up talking about the day's problems and what needs to be finished before the week is over.
