You can find Alfa Systems & Peripherals on Kodambakkam High Road in T. Nagar. The address is a bit confusing to some because it’s Old No. 50 but New No. 119, which is just how things are in this part of Chennai. T. Nagar is always crowded, and the road outside our door is no exception. There is a constant stream of bikes and yellow buses going past at all hours. Our shop is right in the thick of it. We’ve been here long enough to remember when there was much less traffic, but those days are gone. The inside of the place is packed with boxes and various components. We don’t have much room for a fancy showroom, so we just use the space we have as efficiently as we can. It’s often a bit dusty because of the constant construction work nearby, but we try to keep the equipment clean. Our staff has been here for years, and we all know the regulars who drop by just to chat or check on things. We don’t use any script when we talk to people; we just tell them what we know. The ceiling fans hum constantly to keep the humidity at bay. It’s a busy, cramped, and noisy place, but it’s where we do our work. Sometimes the power goes out for a few minutes in the afternoon, and we all just sit and wait for the generator to kick in. It’s just another day for us.
