If you find yourself in Adyar, specifically on 3rd Cross Street in Kasturibai Nagar, you might pass by No. 32. We are up on the first floor there. The stairs are a bit narrow, so you have to be careful if you’re carrying anything heavy. Being Smartbas Building Solutions Pvt. Ltd. means we spend a lot of time thinking about how things are put together, but our own office is pretty basic. We’ve got some drawing boards, a few computers that have seen better days, and a lot of pens that always seem to go missing when you need one. The view from the window is just the street below, which stays pretty active with people going to work or heading to the market. We like being in Adyar because everything is close by, even if parking can be a real headache sometimes. Inside, it’s usually a mix of phone calls and the sound of the printer going off. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. Usually, whoever is closest to the door just opens it. We try to keep things organized, but there’s always a pile of blueprints or catalogs sitting in the corner waiting to be filed away. It’s a practical space for practical work. We’ve been here long enough that the creaks in the floorboards don't bother us anymore. It’s just home for the workday.
