We are over at New No. 21, which used to be Old No. 14, on Venkatarathinam Nagar Extension 2nd St. It is a quiet enough street for most of the day. ADLAIN CONSTRUCTIONS (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED is a small operation, really. It is the kind of place where you know everyone’s name and whose turn it is to bring the snacks. We handle construction projects, so our boots are usually a bit muddy. The office is mostly for the paperwork side of things, like permits and bills that never seem to end. We have a few shelves filled with binders and some samples of tiles and bricks tucked into the corners. It is not a showroom. It is just a working space where we sit down to figure out costs and timelines. Sometimes the neighbors pop in to say hello or ask a question. We like being in this part of town because it feels like a real community. The work can be exhausting, especially when we are out under the sun for hours, but there is something good about seeing a wall go up or a roof get finished. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just build things. Every day is a bit different, and that keeps us on our toes. The kettle is usually on if someone needs a break from the heat.
