Theatre Lab Acting Institute

You can find us on the first floor of SCO-24 in Sector 20, Chandigarh. The space is basically just a big open room with some mats on the floor and mirrors on one side so people can see what they’re doing. We don’t have a lot of fancy furniture, just some chairs for when we sit down to read scripts. Acting is mostly about movement and using your voice, so it can get a bit loud in here sometimes. We’ve had neighbors mention the noise once or twice, but usually, everyone is used to the sounds of people shouting lines or practicing their walk. Being in Sector-20D is convenient because the market is right there, and students can grab a snack after class. The lighting isn't great, but it works for what we need. We spend hours here every week, just going over scenes and trying to get the emotions right. It’s not a corporate environment at all; it’s more like a workshop where things are a bit messy and there’s always tape on the floor marking out where the stage is. People from all over Chandigarh come by, and we just try to give them a place to practice without feeling judged. It’s a lot of hard work and repeating the same lines until they sound real. We keep a few old props in the corner, like broken umbrellas or hats, just to help people get into character.
