Our workshop is at D-7 in the Industrial Area, Phase-1 of S.A.S. Nagar. It is a typical industrial spot with a lot of other units nearby doing similar things. We focus on engineering work, which means there is always the sound of drilling or grinding in the background. The floor is concrete and usually has some oil spots or metal shavings on it from the morning’s work. We are not big on appearances here; the focus is more on whether the parts we make are correct and fit properly. Most of the guys have been with us for years and they know the machines inside out. We get a lot of local orders from other businesses in the area who need something fixed or fabricated. It can get quite cold in the winters here in Mohali, and really hot in the summer, but the work does not stop. We have a small cabin for the paperwork and some chairs, but most of the time is spent out on the shop floor. It is a hands-on kind of place. We do not have any fancy mission statements on the walls, just a few safety signs and a clock that is usually a few minutes fast. People come by with a sketch or a broken part, and we see what we can do to help them out. It is just a regular engineering shop doing what we know how to do. There is always a bit of a backlog.
