Ranjit Watch House is located over in Sector 22D, at number 26. It’s a small space, really just enough for a couple of people to stand in while they wait. Most of our day is spent working on watches that people dropped or forgot to wind. There’s a specific smell in here, a mix of old metal and the oil we use for the tiny movements. We don't have a big staff or anything, just a few of us who know how to handle the delicate stuff. The market around 22D is always moving, but inside the shop, everything feels a bit slower. We spend a lot of time trying to find parts for brands that don't even exist anymore. It’s quiet work, mostly. We have a lot of regular customers from the neighborhood who stop by just to chat while we swap out a battery or fix a clasp. The counter is usually covered in tools and little trays of screws that you’d lose if you even sneezed too hard. Sometimes the lights flicker when the power is acting up, but we have a backup for that so we can keep working. It's not a glamorous job, but it's what we know how to do. If you need us, we're right there in the middle of the block, usually busy with something under the lamp. We’ve been in this same spot for years and don't plan on going anywhere else. It’s just how things are for us.
