We are right at the corner of Patepura Char Rasta. It’s a busy spot in Sector 17. The traffic is always moving outside our door at 70/72 Main Road. I’ve been sitting behind this counter for a long time now. People come in with all sorts of problems. One guy had a watch that went through the wash, and another just needs a new pin for his strap. It’s messy work sometimes. My hands get oily from the tiny gears. I try to keep the shop tidy but there are always parts scattered around the desk. I enjoy the quiet moments between customers. I look out at the intersection and watch the world go by. It’s a good location because everyone passes through here eventually. We have clocks on every wall, and they don't all chime at once, thank goodness. If they did, it would be a nightmare. Some of these watches have been in families for years. It’s nice to see something old still working. I don't do anything fancy, just plain repairs and battery swaps. I learned the trade from my uncle who used to work in a bigger city. Now I just stay here in Sector 17. It’s home. People know where to find me if their clock stops. I usually have tea around four and keep the door open to catch the breeze. It's a simple life, fixing things that stop and helping out the neighbors.
