Patiala Marble House

Our place is out in the Industrial Area, Phase 7, specifically at Plot No. E-161/162. It’s a big space because marble takes up a lot of room. There is always a layer of white dust on everything, no matter how much we sweep. That’s just the nature of working with stone. We spend our mornings moving slabs with the crane and making sure nothing gets cracked. It’s heavy work. The trucks come in through the main gates of Phase 7 and we have to guide them in so they don't hit the stacks. It’s not a quiet neighborhood. There are machines running nearby and the sound of cutting stone fills the air most of the day. We’ve got all kinds of marble piled up, from plain ones to the more colorful pieces. People come here when they are building new houses or fixing up old ones. We usually walk them around the plot so they can see the full slabs. It’s different from looking at small samples. The sun gets hot out here in the open area, so we keep a small office with a fan to do the paperwork. It’s been our routine for a long time. Just working with the stone and getting it ready for whoever needs it. It’s a simple operation, really. Just a lot of heavy lifting and keeping the yard organized so we can find things when someone asks.
