About Sharma Engineering – Engineering in Central Delhi
Our workshop is tucked away in Paharganj, specifically in Multani Dhanda at 9531/12. It’s a rough part of town if you aren't used to it, with narrow lanes and a lot of dust flying around. We do a lot of lathe work and general machining. The floor is concrete and always has a thin layer of oil on it. We’ve got some old machines that have been running for decades, and they still do a better job than some of the newer stuff I’ve seen. It’s loud when everything is turned on, so we don't do much talking while we're working. Mostly, we take on small repair jobs or make specific parts for people who bring in a drawing on a scrap of paper. I learned the trade from my uncle, and I’ve stayed in this same spot ever since. The lighting isn't great, but we know our way around the tools even in the dim corners. We don't have a front office or anyone to answer the phones, so if the bell rings, I usually have to wipe my hands on a rag before I can see who it is. People come to us because we don't mind getting our hands dirty on difficult jobs that bigger shops won't touch. It’s just me and a couple of helpers trying to get through the pile of work on the table every single day. It keeps us busy and the bills paid.
