Krishna Automotive

Down here on Hari Singh Nalwa Street, things never really slow down. Krishna Automotive is tucked into house number 31/1578, right in the heart of the Karol Bagh madness. If you’ve ever been to this part of Delhi, you know how crowded the lanes get with cars and scooters everywhere. We deal with a lot of spare parts and mechanical bits all day long. My clothes usually have a few grease stains on them by lunch, but you get used to it. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack things up to the ceiling sometimes to make room. It can be hard to find a specific nut or bolt in the middle of a busy afternoon, but we usually know exactly where everything is. We talk to a lot of mechanics and drivers who are always in a hurry to get back on the road. The tea shop next door keeps us going with constant cups of chai while we sort through the inventory. It’s not a glamorous job, standing on your feet on a concrete floor, but it’s what we do. We’ve been in Karol Bagh for years and we’ve seen the street change quite a bit, though the noise of engines stays the same. We just try to get the right parts to the people who need them without too much fuss. Most people just walk in off the street because they know we are here.
