Ashok Automobiles

We have been at 1091/98 on Haryandhyan Singh Road for quite a while now. If you know Karol Bagh, you know how the traffic gets around here. Ashok Automobiles is basically just a place where we get our hands dirty every single day. My father started this and now I spend most of my time looking under hoods or searching for that one specific bolt that rolled under a cabinet. The floor is usually covered in some kind of oil stain and there is always a stack of old tires near the back wall that we need to move. It’s not a fancy showroom with glass doors or air conditioning that actually works well. We just have our tools and a couple of stools for people to sit on while they wait. Most mornings start with a cup of tea and a list of cars that need looking at. Sometimes the parts don’t arrive on time and we have to call the suppliers three times just to get an answer. It’s loud because of the horns outside and the sound of the air compressor running. We know most of the people who drive through this part of Karol Bagh. It’s just honest work, really. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk about the cricket scores, but usually, there is someone coming in with a strange noise coming from their engine. We do what we can with what we have here.
