Jagjit Matharu Engineering Works

Over at 25/C-1 Anand Parbat, Gali No 10, you’ll find Jagjit Matharu Engineering Works. It’s a typical engineering shop, meaning there is metal everywhere and the smell of cutting oil is pretty much stuck in the walls and our clothes. We’ve been doing this for a long time. The street is narrow and always full of life, which is just how Anand Parbat is. We do all the usual engineering tasks like lathe work, welding, and fixing things that have snapped or worn out over time. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear your best clothes, honestly. We’re usually covered in a bit of grime and oil by lunch. The machines we use are heavy and they’ve seen a lot of use, but they still get the job done correctly. We don't have a big philosophy or mission statement; we just take the work as it comes in. Someone brings in a piece that’s broken, and we figure out how to fix it or just make a new one from scratch. It’s about solving problems with your hands and some heavy equipment. Some days are slow and we just clean up the shop or organize the scrap, other days we’re working late to finish a job for someone who needs it by the morning. It’s a steady, quiet life. We don’t do anything fancy, just solid engineering work for whoever walks through the door in Gali No 10. That’s pretty much the whole story.
