A S Embroidery

Our place is at 6904 Nabi Karim in Paharganj, not too far from Qila Kadam Sharif. If you know this part of Delhi, you know how tight the lanes are. We do embroidery work here. It’s a lot of fine detail and sitting in one spot for hours. We have several machines and also do some stuff by hand. The noise of the needles is the main sound you’ll hear in the shop. We work on all kinds of fabrics, from light silks to heavier cottons. Sometimes the thread snaps or the design gets bunched up, and we have to start over. It’s part of the process. The shop is packed with spools of thread in every color you can think of. It’s not a very big space, so we have to be careful where we step. Being in Paharganj means there’s always something going on outside our door. We’ve been here for a while and have seen the neighborhood change. We just keep our heads down and focus on the patterns. It takes a lot of patience to get the stitching right. We don't make big promises, we just show you the work we've finished. It’s a simple setup. Most days we are just trying to get the orders finished before the sun goes down. The light in here isn't the best in the evening, so we try to get the hardest bits done while it's still bright outside.
