Soho Architects

Soho Architects is tucked away in the Housing Colony in Malaparamba. We are right near the Everything Supermarket, which is very handy for us when we need to grab some snacks or extra office supplies during the day. Kozhikode is a good place to be, and this specific neighborhood is usually quite calm compared to the busy center of town. Our workspace is pretty simple and doesn't have any fancy decorations. We have some desks, a few good lamps for when we stay late and it gets dark, and more coffee mugs than we probably need to own. We work on all sorts of building designs. Some days we are looking at small house renovations, and other days it might be something a bit bigger like a commercial space. We don't have a fancy philosophy or a mission statement about architecture. We just think things should be useful and stay standing for a long time. It’s mostly just us sitting around talking about where a window should go or how to fit a staircase into a tight corner. We don't use a lot of fancy jargon when we talk to our clients. If something is going to be expensive, we just say so directly. If a design idea won't work in reality, we explain why in plain English. We’ve been doing this for a bit now and we enjoy the daily routine of it. The rain here in Malaparamba can be really something else, so we spend a lot of time thinking about drainage and keeping things dry. It is not a flashy life.
