Karni Bhawan Palace

This old place in Gandhi Colony has a lot of history behind it, though it’s mostly just a quiet spot these days. It’s called a palace, and it does have those big old rooms and high ceilings, but it feels more like a lived-in home than anything else. We spend a lot of time just keeping up with the dust and making sure the garden isn't overrunning the paths. It’s tucked away from the main noise of the town, so it stays fairly peaceful. Most of the people who stay with us are looking for something that isn't a standard boxy hotel room. The furniture is heavy and old, and some of the doors creak a bit when the wind blows through the hallways. We don’t have a big staff or anything, just a few of us who look after the place and make sure there’s tea when someone wants it. It’s a bit of a walk to get to the market, but people usually like the stroll. Sometimes we sit out in the courtyard in the evenings when it cools down. It’s not a fancy resort with a bunch of activities, just a big old house where you can put your feet up. We’ve had families coming back for years now. It’s just how things are here in this part of the colony. Nothing moves too fast and we like it that way. I suppose it’s a good change of pace.
