Sanghi Cement Ltd. is based out in Sanghipuram, which is part of the Abadasa Taluka in the Kutchh district. It is a very remote and rugged part of the country, and we are situated quite near the Abg Cement site. The landscape around here is mostly dry and dusty, which actually fits the kind of work we do. Living and working out here in Kutchh is different from the city life. We have a huge plant where the cement is manufactured, and it’s a 24-hour operation. There is a lot of heat, both from the sun and the industrial processes, so everyone has to be pretty tough to work here. The staff mostly lives in the surrounding area or in the company quarters. It’s a self-contained world in many ways. We have our own rhythm of shifts and delivery schedules. The trucks are constantly lined up to take the finished product across the state. It’s a lot of coordination to keep everything moving smoothly when you are this far away from the major hubs. We don't have much in the way of fancy offices; everything is built for utility and surviving the harsh climate. People here take pride in the hard work they do, even if it means going home every day covered in a fine layer of white powder. It’s just the nature of the cement business in this part of the world.
