Scaan Steel Ltd.

We are based out of Gridco Colony in Bhubaneswar, specifically at Qr.No-2Ra-3. It’s actually a flat, which might seem a bit unusual for a steel company like Scaan Steel Ltd, but it’s where we handle all the administrative work. Aryabala Mohanty’s place is where we’ve set things up. Dealing with steel in Orissa means you’re always busy because there is so much construction going on. Our days are filled with phone calls to sites and trying to coordinate with the transport guys. It’s a lot of juggling schedules and making sure the paperwork for the loads is correct. The colony is a pretty quiet place compared to the industrial zones, so it gives us a bit of a break from the noise. We don’t have any big signs or fancy reception areas. It’s just a couple of rooms with desks and plenty of paper. Sometimes the internet is spotty, so we end up doing a lot of things the old-fashioned way. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a shiny office. We just want to make sure the steel gets to where it needs to go and that our suppliers are paid on time. It’s a basic operation and we like it that way. Most of us have been in this industry for a long time, so we don’t need much instruction. We just get on with it every day and keep the records straight.
