Our studio is tucked away on the street near the Prajapti Bramhakumari Asharam, right by St. Anis Carmal School. It’s a lively area, especially when the school bell rings and the kids come flooding out onto the sidewalk. Rajesh has been holding a camera for as long as anyone can remember. We do a bit of everything here, from the small passport photos that people need for their documents to taking pictures at local gatherings. The shop itself is filled with old frames and some cameras that have seen better days. We don't use a lot of fancy lights if the sun is doing the job for us through the front window. It’s a bit cramped when a whole family comes in for a portrait, but we make it work. Sometimes the kids from the school peek in through the glass while we are working. We try to keep the backdrop clean, but the dust from the street always finds its way in. It is a simple life, capturing faces and moments. We don't go for those over-edited looks that you see in magazines. We just want people to look like themselves when they see their prints. It’s mostly about being quick and making sure nobody is blinking. Rajesh Photography has been here long enough that most people in this part of town know where to find us. We just keep the camera ready for whoever walks in next.
