Mahalaxmi Steel & Co.

Our place is Building No. 179 in Sahid Nagar. We are pretty close to the Alok Bharti Tower, so that is usually the landmark we tell people to look for when they are lost. Mahalaxmi Steel & Co. is a straightforward operation. We handle a lot of steel rods, metal sheets, and other supplies. The shop is basically a large warehouse space where everything is organized by size and type, though it can get a bit jumbled when we are very busy. The smell of metal and oil is always in the air. We do not have any fancy marketing or a slick website to show off. Most of our work comes from local builders and people in the neighborhood who are fixing up their own houses. Dealing with steel is heavy and often dirty work. You have to be careful where you step and always watch your hands for sharp edges. I have been working here for years, and the routine is pretty much the same every single day. We open the shutters, check the orders, and start loading the trucks for delivery. Sometimes the traffic in Sahid Nagar makes the deliveries a bit slow, but we do what we can to stay on schedule. We have a small corner with a table and a few chairs where we handle the paperwork and drink our afternoon coffee. It is a no-nonsense environment.
