Janganana Bhavan Canteen

The Janganana Bhavan Canteen is inside the main building at Arera Hills in Bhopal. We are at Shop No 4, and since it is a government building, we see the same faces every single day. Most of the staff from the Census office come here during their lunch break or for a quick cup of tea in the afternoon. It is located near the 11 bus stop, so we also get some people waiting for their ride who need a snack. I usually start the day by getting the tea kettles ready and making sure we have enough biscuits or samosas. The kitchen area is small, and it can get quite hot when we are frying things. I was just cleaning the tables and making sure the water dispenser is full. It is not a restaurant, just a simple canteen where people can sit for a few minutes and take a break from their work. The furniture is quite basic, just some plastic chairs and metal tables that have been here for a long time. I have to keep an eye on the clock because the rush always happens at exactly the same time every day. Sometimes we run out of milk before the afternoon shift starts, so I have to send someone out to get more quickly. It is a busy life, keeping everyone fed and caffeinated. The view outside toward Arera Hills is actually quite nice when you get a second to look.
