Swadeshiengineering

Our shop, Swadeshiengineering, is right on Plot No. 294/E in Chitra G.I.D.C. If you’re looking for us, just find Chamunda Traders—we are right opposite them. It’s a handy landmark because otherwise, all these plots start looking the same after a while. We are an engineering firm, but don’t expect a shiny lab. Our floors have oil stains and the air smells like cut metal and welding. That’s just the way it is when you’re making things. We have some old lathes and a few newer machines too. It’s a mix of the old ways and the new stuff. We do a lot of custom work for people in the area. Someone comes in with a broken part or a drawing on a scrap of paper, and we see what we can do to help them out. It’s satisfying to see a pile of raw steel turn into something useful. Chitra is a busy place, and there’s always a lot of dust flying around from the trucks. We keep the big doors open to let the breeze in, otherwise, it gets too stuffy inside during the summer. The guys here have been working together for a long time. We don’t need much management. Everyone knows what they’re supposed to be doing. Sometimes we sit outside on the benches during lunch and just watch the traffic go by. It’s not a complicated life, but we take pride in the parts we turn out every week.
