Modern Stone Industries

Our business is located down by the Old Port area. It is a very industrial and rugged part of the city, with the smell of the sea and old machinery everywhere. We work with stones, so our yard is filled with massive slabs and blocks that have been brought in. It is a heavy-duty environment where we use cranes and big saws to cut things down to size. The air is always a bit white with stone dust, and our boots and clothes usually match by the end of the shift. Working near the port means we see a lot of big ships and heavy trucks constantly moving goods around. It’s not a quiet place at all. We spend our days measuring slabs and making sure the cuts are right, which takes a lot of focus because you can’t really fix a mistake once the stone is cut. We have a small shack that serves as our office where we keep our records and escape the sun for a bit. The ground is uneven and often muddy if it has been raining, so you have to watch your step. We’ve been operating out of this port location for a long time, and we’re used to the grit and the hard work that comes with the stone industry. It’s a tough job, but there’s something satisfying about working with such solid materials every day.
