Bhavni Limestone

Our business, Bhavni Limestone, is based out in the Jetpur taluka of the Junagadh district. We are specifically located at the Post in Bhavnagar. It is a very rural area, and the landscape is dominated by the stone and earth we work with every day. We don’t have a big corporate office with air conditioning and fancy chairs. Our workspace is more about the outdoors and the physical reality of the limestone trade. There are piles of rock everywhere, and the sun can be quite brutal during the summer months. Most of us wear heavy boots and clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. We spend our time checking the quality of the stone and making sure the trucks are loaded properly for their long trips. It is a quiet life compared to the big cities, but there is always a lot of physical labor involved. We don't spend time on social media or making advertisements. We just rely on the quality of the limestone we dig up and the relationships we have built with people over the years. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we have to wait for parts to come from the city, which can be frustrating. But mostly, it is just a steady rhythm of work from sunrise to sunset. It is a basic, honest way of making a living from the land we have here in this part of Gujarat.
