Gayatri Stones

If you head down Rajkot Road and turn into the G.I.D.C. area, you'll find us at Plot 90 in Vitthalwadi. Gayatri Stones is basically a bunch of us working with heavy slabs all day long. It's loud because of the machinery and the trucks coming in and out of the industrial estate. We've been in this spot for a good bit of time. The office is small and usually has some papers flying around because of the fan. We don't spend much time inside anyway. Most of the day is spent outside near the cutting machines. It’s a messy job, really. There’s water and stone sludge everywhere on the floor. You learn to wear sturdy boots after the first week. We deal with whatever stone comes in on the trucks. Sometimes the delivery is late, and we just sit around chatting until it arrives. That's just part of life in Vitthalwadi. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to get the orders done so people can finish their houses or buildings. If you come by, you’ll probably see us covered in gray dust. It’s hard work, and the sun gets pretty hot out on Rajkot Road, but we’re used to it by now. We don't do much advertising. People usually just hear about us from someone else in the trade. We just keep doing what we know. It is a simple life here in the industrial zone.
