Zesto Straw Industry

Zesto Straw Industry is located at Number 9 on the 8th Main Industrial Sub Road, right off Begur Main Road in Bommanahali. It’s a purely industrial area, so there are factories all around us. We make straws here. The machines have a specific rhythm to them, a sort of clicking sound that you get used to after a few hours. We spend most of the day standing by the production line, making sure everything is coming out the way it should. The air smells a bit like warm plastic sometimes. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. The floor is painted grey, but it’s worn down in the spots where we walk the most. We have a small area in the back for packing the boxes. Sometimes we have to stay late if a big order needs to go out the next morning. The trucks come in and out of the lane all day, so it can get a bit cramped when we are loading. We don’t have a big fancy sign out front, just the number on the door. Our lunch breaks are usually quick, sitting on some crates in the shade. It’s a steady pace here. We aren't trying to change the world; we just make sure we produce what we promised. The work is repetitive but it feels good to see the boxes stacked up at the end of the shift. It's how we make a living.
