Yenkay Super Market

Yenkay Super Market is right on 50 Feet Road in Hanumanthnagar, part of Banashankari 1st Stage at 209/A. It’s a pretty standard grocery store for the neighborhood. We stock everything from basic dal and rice to the soaps and shampoos people use. The aisles are a bit narrow because we try to cram as much as possible onto the shelves. It’s always a bit of a juggle getting new stock in while people are trying to shop. We open up early in the morning for the milk run and stay open until fairly late. It’s a family-style place and we see the same faces every single day. We spend a lot of time just chatting with neighbors while we ring up their items. The billing counter is usually a bit cluttered with small candies and last-minute things. We don’t have those fancy loyalty cards or big bright signs. It’s just a place to get your food and go home. Sometimes the fridge for the curds makes a weird noise, but it keeps things cold enough. We keep a close eye on what’s running out so we can call the suppliers. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and lifting crates of vegetables. The traffic on 50 Feet Road is always loud, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years.
