Wood Worx

We are down in the basement shop at the ATR Complex, which is No 33/121 in HAL 2nd Stage. It’s a busy area because we are right next to Pizza Hut and the Total Mall. Being Wood Worx, our space is usually filled with the scent of sawdust and cut timber. The basement stays a bit cooler than the street level, which is nice during the summer months. You can hear the muffled sounds of the traffic and people going to the mall above us. We have all our tools laid out on the workbenches and piles of wood waiting to be shaped into something useful. It’s not the cleanest place because of all the shavings on the floor, but we try to sweep up at the end of the day. People walking by the ATR Complex often peek in to see what we are making. We have been here for a while and the location is very convenient since everyone knows the mall. The lighting is all fluorescent because there are no windows down here, which makes it feel like a private little world. It feels like a real workshop where things actually get built by hand. We spend our time measuring, cutting, and putting pieces together carefully. Sometimes it gets noisy with the saws going, but that is part of the job. Most of our visitors are people from the neighborhood or shoppers who saw our sign near Pizza Hut.
