You can find Asian Furniture Co at 7 Sampangiram Nagar on Morland Road. We are tucked away in the Atlaswala Estate, which is right behind where Pallavi Theatre used to be. It’s a bit of an old industrial spot, and you can usually smell the wood shavings before you even see the door. The workshop is big and echoes a lot. We have pieces of timber stacked up against the walls and half-finished chairs waiting for a coat of polish. It’s a dusty place because of all the sawing and sanding we do throughout the day. We aren't a fancy showroom with bright spotlights and glass displays. The floor is concrete and there’s usually a thin layer of sawdust on everything. We spend our days measuring twice and cutting once. Sometimes we get a big order that takes up all the floor space, and we have to step over things just to get around. It’s a small group of us who have been working with wood for years. We don’t use a lot of fancy machinery, just the basic stuff that gets the job done right. People come in looking for something sturdy for their homes, and we show them what we’re working on. It’s honest, loud, and messy work, but we like it. The neighborhood has changed over the years, but we’re still here in the same estate doing what we know best.
