Wood Gallery is located over in BTM Layout, right on the 6th Main. It’s a place where things actually get made, so there is usually a layer of fine sawdust on almost everything, including the chairs. We spend a lot of our time at 190 BTM Layout measuring planks or looking at the grain of different pieces of timber. The smell of cut wood is the first thing you notice when you walk in, which is a lot better than the exhaust fumes from the road outside. We aren't a big showroom with bright lights; it’s more of a working space where we keep the tools and the raw materials. People from the nearby apartments often drop by to ask about getting a cupboard fixed or a new shelf made. Some days are quiet and we just organize the scrap wood, while other days the saws are running from morning until late evening. The 6th Main can get pretty busy with parked bikes, so getting a delivery truck in here is always a bit of a headache. We have a few old fans that hum away in the corner to keep the air moving. It’s hard work and it’s messy, but there is something good about seeing a pile of wood turn into something useful. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that, so you usually just find us in the back with a pencil behind an ear.
