Wadhwani Foundation

Working out of Electronic City in Bangalore means we spend a lot of our lives in traffic. Our office is in the E2 Block of Ittina Neela. It’s a big complex and it takes a while to walk from the main gate to our section. Here at the Wadhwani Foundation, we do a lot of project management and coordination. The office has that typical Bangalore tech feel, but it’s a bit more relaxed than the big multi-national companies down the road. We have a lot of meetings, though they aren't very formal. We just pull up some plastic chairs around someone’s desk and talk it out. The weather is usually the best part of the day, so we often open the windows instead of using the air conditioning. We have a small pantry with a microwave that someone always forgets to clean after heating up their lunch. There are whiteboards all over the walls filled with scribbles and dates that sometimes don't make sense to anyone else who walks in. We deal with a lot of paperwork and digital files, trying to keep everything organized for the programs we run. It’s a lot of work and sometimes it feels like we aren't getting through the pile, but we keep at it. Most of us have been working together for a few years now, so we know each other's habits pretty well. We try to finish by evening to beat the worst of the commute back home.
